Advocates USA non-profit organization of African American men who volunteer their time and collective efforts to improve their community. They are united by their passion for golf and the desire to improve the education, health and economic development of African Americans, especially African American young men. We strongly believe that through our collective efforts and experiences, we can make a difference
All members give their time and efforts voluntarily and currently are experiencing great personal satisfaction in seeing how these efforts are positively impacting on the young men and communities we serve. The Advocates believe that the seeds of greatness in our youth when fostered can grow into immense possibilities and self-fulfillment; we truly believe that our children are the legacy to the future.
The mission of the Advocates is to provide support and improve the quality of life for African Americans, and youth in particular, in our community. In this statement we affirm that:
- We will serve as role models for our youth;
- We will become a self-sufficient and financially independent group that will assist charitable and other worthwhile community causes;
- We will give our time, talent and resources back to the African American Community;
- We will provide the leadership to support issues and causes that promote positive change in our community; and
- We will demand and demonstrate excellence in all of our endeavors.
Typically, a prospective member is a person who has the desire to provide their considerable talents and valuable time in aiding the Advocates to serve our community. Our members are leaders in their communities, businesses and professions who embrace the mission of the Advocates and strive to make a difference within their areas of influence. Persons eligible for membership shall include persons who satisfy such criteria for membership as may be established by the Advocates Board of Directors. The Board identifies advocacy, social issues and youth outreach in which to focus our charitable activities.
To enable the Advocates to fulfill its purpose, annual dues of $200 will give the member the following privileges and rights:
- Participation at the Advocates annual golf fundraisers
- Golf apparel from the Advocates golf collection
- Networking activities among Advocate members
